Thatched roof

This is a very old type of roof construction that involves the laying of thatch on the roofing trusses of a property to give it a weather proof cover. Insurance companies will normally impose special terms for fire insurance on thatched properties. It is advisable to check that full fire cover is available with an insurer acceptable to the lender before proceeding.
